The open cuff descends from the Celtic and Roman torque, worn as a mark of rank and finished at each terminal with a stone. Ours is 18 karat gold brushed to a matte finish so the metal reads warm rather than bright, with a fancy yellow pear shape diamond held at each end in the Bouton setting—worked in solid yellow gold like the cuff itself, so the stone and its case run one continuous colour. It opens on a hidden hinge and closes around the wrist without a clasp.
